I was born not long after after a deadly tornado season in the midwest. Yesterday brought a rash of storms and tornadoes very close to where I live. For me, it was only wind, torrential rain and hail, but a short distance away homes were torn from their foundations, children cowered in basements and school busses flew into buildings.
It puts my problems into perspective.
I'm having trouble with just about everything right now. School is a chore, teaching is not proving to be fulfilling, and my job search is stalled before it ever took off.
The good news is that I graduate in just about 2 months. My teaching assignment will have concluded in just about two months, and at least I am finding jobs for which to apply. I have applied for 17 positions since December 15. I have had one interview and was not offered the job until two other candidates had accepted it and quit, and my teaching job was offered to me without an interview. Things are certainly crazy.
The other good news is that my critters are all safe, sound and snuggly. Especially good news, in fact, as I have needed some consolation lately.
I'm off to meet a friend and classmate for breakfast this morning. It is my goal to have my pessimism in check before I see her.
