It is so hot and humid here. Already.
I just took Wilson out for a spin around the block. Funny, he doesn't care if it is 95 degrees or 2 degrees, he's always up for a walk. When I think it's too hot to take him, I remember that he has a shiny black overcoat and he doesn't mind. I have a coat of unwanted winter sloth, so I have every incentive to get off my bum and go!

As Tuesday is the end of my summer weekend, I am reminded that after working this week, I am spending the beginning of my next weekend involved in a labor of love.
My local Humane Society partners with a downtown restaurant to host an event to raise money and give people the opportunity to take their canine companions out to lunch. The venue is great, on the canal downtown with great views, food and service, and they treat you and your dog equally well to raise money for this important cause.
Last year's event is where I met Wilson. The sun on his shiny black coat worried me, and as I was under a canopy with a table, I asked if I could keep him with me as I painted portraits. The rest, as they say, is history.
I paint little watercolor sketches of dogs for donations to the Humane Society. After losing my Olive in November, I can't decide whether or not I want them to bring a girl who catches my eye with them this year. Wilson has become such an important part of my family that I am torn between loving the dynamic in the house and wanting to provide a forever home to another dog who might fit in just as easily as Wilson did. I am glad that Olive had the opportunity to have another dog around during her (unexpected) last months, and I am really glad that I had Wilson to comfort me after losing her.
Wish me luck either way!
UPDATE: No new dog. The weather was beautiful - which is nice because my central air stopped working Saturday.
