Yesterday I was so excited to visit and tour the Exotic Feline Rescue Center.

I learned about this place after watching The Tiger Next Door.

I was very impressed with how this rescue center operates. The opportunity to be so close to such magnificent animals and to witness firsthand their forgiving nature is something I will not forget. As you can read on their website, these cats were mostly taken from situations where they were neglected, abused or both. Who would have thought that they would be given such a tremendous opportunity to live out their lives being cared for and nurtured in Indiana...?

Here are a few images from my visit. I was overwhelmed.

She was very curious because her Dad had just sprayed some lady who wasn't paying attention and clearly didn't listen to our guide.

These cats were clearly used to people, but as a visitor I felt very safe. Gorgeous, right?

This girl was rescued from living in a cage in a warehouse. The EFRC believes that before she came to them, she had never seen sunlight. She sees it now, and obviously enjoys it.

She was very responsive to my voice and seemed to enjoy my looking at her. Be still my heart.

She came out from napping in the shade to get her ears scratched by our tour guide.

There were so many cats, each beautiful, each with a story. If you ever have the opportunity to visit you will not regret it. Get the movie from your library (!!) and you'll get a clearer picture of how I was motivated to visit there.

The list...

I have a list of things that need to be addressed during my summer break. Some of it will happen. Likely, most of it will not. One reason? Distractions.

I also had to scramble to get the yard mowed at the hottest time of day, as we had storms early this morning and are expecting storms this afternoon/evening.

Tomorrow I am going on an excursion with one of my library pals. I will be taking the good camera and reporting back here soon. The forecast calls for a rainy Tuesday, but we're going rain or shine. Until I report, the trip will be a secret mission!

 

It's Summer (kind of) and I've still got it (not really)!

This week I worked my spring schedule and my summer schedule at the library. I can use some money, so I am happy to have the hours.

Yesterday at the Circulation Desk, an attractive undergrad asked me if we had a book. We're supposed to refer these questions to Reference, but I am happy to help when I can, so I looked up his book in the online catalog.

He was chatting with me about what he's studying, how he likes to travel, what his plans are after graduation... college stuff.  I couldn't help but think, hey - I must be interesting to this guy if he's hanging around, chatting me up for so long. Yeah, I still got it.

We concluded our conversation and he thanked me for helping him. He said, "Thanks so much for all your help, Ma'am." ssssssssssssssssst! That's all the air coming out.

Ma'am.

So I am consoling myself by watching this tonight:

It's what we old library ladies do on Saturday nights, yo!
