The final stretch (of the semester). I have submitted all of my final projects as of today. I received 100% on my largest research paper, have one class to attend and one presentation to make, then it will be summer vacation.
For me, summer vacation means that I will have no coursework. My new Graduate Assistant position at the Circulation Desk is giving me more hours for the summer. I have been warned that it will be boring. The way I see it, I will be in a library - I should be able to find something to read.
In addition to my hours at the circ desk, I will continue teaching Drawing From Life and Watercolor Painting at the local Senior Center. I love this job. Love it!
When I am not working, I will be overhauling my house to make room for my painting studio. Previous allocations for such space have gone the way of everything else in the house:
Kitchen? Junk Drawer with food.
Living Room? Junk Drawer with books and television.
Bedroom? Junk Drawer with clothes, bed and sleeping critters.
You get the idea.
So today is homework day. I completed the last of my aforementioned final projects and submitted it, I took Wilson for a drive to get a chocolate malt, and now I am posting here as Lois the Librarian.
So Wilson just sauntered up to me, staring, as if I can read his mind. An equally inaccurate assumption would be that I can communicate with Wilson through speech. I offer this transcript of our interaction:
ME: What is it?
Wilson: Stares straight ahead, careful to avoid eye contact.
ME: Do you want to go outside?
Wilson: Still staring, but gaze moves closer to me (still not directly looking AT me).
ME: Are there birds out there?
Wilson. Staring. Feet not moving.
ME: Are there bugs out there?
Wilson: See previous reactions.
ME: Are there squirrels out there?
Wilson: Insane barking, bouncing and jumping.
I guess I had better take him out to look at squirrels, then.
