Today I have been officially terminated from my job. My last day is Friday.
I have been hired as a part-time employee at the same job on Monday to allow me to start my newest part-time job. Here's the 4-1-1:
My current job is boring. I'm good at at, though, and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity it has afforded me to come back to school. Because it is a University position, and I have been able to schedule around my classes.
The department in which I work is undergoing many changes and part of those changes include some added responsibilities and fewer hours when I start taking my block studio classes at school this fall.
In the spring and the fall, I teach art classes for my school's Community Learning Program. I can't begin to tell you how much I love that!
Last week I was contracted to direct a gallery show for my school as part of a festival held annually here in th city. This is big news for me. I will be managing the whole thing, which is a little intimidating, but also very exciting. Because this job is part-time and temporary (ends Labor Day), AND for the same University, I have chosen to go to part-time next week. I'll still be working 40 hours a week until the fall, but will split those hours between the two jobs.
Confused?
I know I am.
So my last day is Friday, so I am taking my floating Holiday that day to relax before my big show on Saturday (no, I haven't forgotten that I need to report that here - with pictures). I'm not prone to superstition so much, but it IS a juried show, and I hope to do well.
